1. FIRST IMPRESSIONS
I recently got my hands on the recently released MOTO 360 Sport and I must say on first wear I enjoyed the feel of the silicone watch band which had a sort of sporty rubbery feel. I don’t really wear watches and only had experience with Nike fuel bands so this was a nice intro into the smartwatch world. I immediately appreciated the matte black colorway and I found the watch design to be sleek and minimalist 👌🏼 (there is just one textured function button). I was impressed with the vibrant display which had great visibility even in sunlight.
- Hear rate sensor
- Wireless charging
- Water Resistant (IP67 dust and warer resistant)
- Ambient light sensor (screen adjusts to surrounding brightness)
- WiFi connectivity (functions even if your phone is beyond Bluetooth range)
3. THE LOWDOWN.
After using the watch for the last couple weeks, my favorite aspect of the watch (other than the sharp and vivid screen) is the notifications. A gentle vibration let’s you know you’ve got an alert– not having to remove my phone from my jacket pocket and seeing notifications instantly on my Moto360 display was a convenience I really came to love.
Important twitter updates! 👟
keeping up with Kobe’s final season performances! 🏀
Uber updates. 🚗
Another great feature was the connectivity with my iphone’s playlist. At the gym I could skip tracks/pause/play and adjust volume right from the watch face! 👌🏼
I found the voice command/recognition to be pretty intuitive- allowing me to set alarms and reminders by just saying “Hey Google! …” 📅
Here’s one of my favourite watch face designs- Shadow Clock. I liked that I could change the watch face right from the watch (in settings) , here are my faves.
Very cool and clean wireless charging dock.🔋
The Moto body function is great because it tracks your heart rate, steps, “total burn”, and has a running function which lets you specify -indoor or outdoor, running time or distance while tracking your calorie burn. 🔥 A built-in stopwatch function also came in handy during my gym workouts.⏱
PROS. – Peppy app performance, nice selection of customizeable watch faces, comfortable and clean design, awesome vivid display.
CONS. – I feel like battery life could be better, but if you’re a person who has your charger nearby, this would be a non-issue. I also feel like I couldn’t take full advantage of the watch’s capabilities because I used it with my Iphone 6s Plus, where obviously an android phone would be optimal.
The Moto 360 Sport retails for $299US/ $379 CDN and is available now.
